We are at the at the National Research Center have various experiences , beside our agriculture division we have medicine division and another divisions on all branches of science . All these divisions could cooperate with our project to make rural development in the area of northern west coast of the mediterranean located in Egypt .
Improving barley production in the northern west coast in Egypt . Barley is a very important grain in the world today. It is very versatile in every way. It has been well adapted through its evolution. Now however, barely has become well known and so have its many uses. Barley, which is of the genus Hordeum, is a cereal that belongs to the grass family Poaceae. Barley has many different varieties. The most common is Hordeum vulgare, which is a six-rowed type of barley that has a spike notched on opposite sides with three spikelets on each notch. At each notch there is a flower or floret that later develops into a kernel. Barley is very adaptable to various environments. In fact, it is the most adaptable of the cereals. Barley is an annual grass that has two growing seasons, winter and spring. . Barley also has a very good resistance to dry heat compared to other small grains. This feature allows it to grow near desert areas such as North Africa. Barley contains some substances increase immunity in human body. Barley is widely and is currently a major crop of the temperat and tropical areas. Barley ( Hordeum vulgare L.) is the main cereal crop grown in the rainfed areas of Egypt . It occupies about 300,000 feddans ( c . 126000 ha) in the Northwest coast . Epanding the agricultural land base to the drier arable land in Egypt , ÔÇ£ especially the north . west costal region is becoming a necessity to meet the food demands of the growing population . Northwest coast . more desert areas , either sandy or calcareous, have to be put under cultivation. Such soils are poor with respect to their physico-bio-chemical properties, soil water ÔÇô plant relationships as well as their nutritional status . Reclamation and land utilization of such soils are faced by several difficulties Under such severe conditions, desired yield levels are difficult to attain. Proper management of these calls for specialized approaches for sustainable productivity. The practical proper management using organic or inorganic chemical amendments. . The aim of this proposal is to improving barley production in the North ÔÇô west coastal of Egypt by using agronomic treatments and other treatments such as organic manure to satisfy the local demand and export to europe. Egyption Bedouins in the north-west coastal used to cultivate barley with very primerval methods. The forseen impact of the project is to improve the methods and the treatments to cultivate barley with recent activity and recovery of some substances usefull for immunity for human body . The direct cntact with those people may elaborate their life completely.

University of Siena
Giovanni Luca Daino
University of Siena is engaged in research concerning Information Technologies (IT) for communication, learning and teaching. The activity is oriented toward the development, analysis and evaluation of IT tools. Research is funded both by the University core funds and by external sources. The group comprises competencies in Computer Science, Telematic Engineering, Telecommunication Wireless and Wired Networks, Communication Psychology, Cognitive Ergonomics,. For more than ten years personnel involved have been active in issues associated with cognitive ergonomics, telematics engineering, and human factors, mainly concerning decision making, learning processes, telematic networks, human error. In the last years, the Telecommunications Research Group (TRG) of the Information Engineering Department of the University of Siena considerably grew in size and amount of research activity. The group now consists of 7 permanent members (two full professor, three associate professor, three assistant professors), two PhD. student, and several external consultants, who collaborate with the TRG on a regular basis. As a result of the augmented size of the group, the number of research topics has increased too. Research is now carried out in the fields of: i) mobile communication systems; ii) remote sensing; iii) image processing and transmission; iv) design and development of network services; v) cultural heritage and multimedia; vi) signal and image processing for bio-technology and biomedicine; vii) Digital terrestrial Television; viii) RF-Id and sensor networks. The quality of the research is witnessed by the number and quality of publications and by the numerous international and national research projects the TRG is involved in. The University of Siena has close links with industry, since these provide both a source of new technical problems and a test-bed for the knowledge and techniques that are developed. In recent years, the University has been involved in several collaborative research projects with industrial and academic partners. Following there is a list of the projects in which the University of Siena has been recently involved. • AVANTI – “AdaptiVe and Adaptable Interactions for Multimedia Telecommunications ApplIcations” of the program ACTS, which gives and facilitates tourist information for disables; • LHM – “Learning in Human and Machine” of the European Science Foundation; • MULTED – “Multimedia and TELeDidactic” of the ESPRIT Project; • ADP96 – “Apple Design Project” of the APPLE Inc.; • ADP97 – “Apple Design Project” of the APPLE Inc.; • COTCOS – Training and Mobility of Researchers 1996-1999; • HIPS – “Hyper-Interaction within Physical Spaces” – 1997-2000 of the ESPRIT Program, whose object is developing new interaction paradigms for navigating, interacting and learning in physical spaces like art settings. The University of Siena is the prime contractor of the HIPS project http://www.media.unisi.it/hips/ ; • ECHOES – “EduCational Hypermedia On-linE System”, Educational Multimedia Task Force,1998 – 2000, whose object is developing a distributed simulated environment utilising multimedia technology which aims to educate novices in the use of high-technology systems and training specialised technical staff in using and repairing complex equipment such as radar, aircrafts or machine tools; • SEEDS – “Simulation Environment for the Evaluation of Distributed traffic control System”, 1997 – 1999, whose object is the realisation of a simulation environment for an airport traffic control system; • FASME – “ Facilitating Administrative Services for Mobile Europeans”, IST, 2000 – 2001. • PALIO – “ Personalised Access to Local Information and services for tOurists”, IST, 2000 – 2002 facilitating mobile services for tourists and citizens http://palio.dii.unisi.it/ . • SM-PAYSOC – “Secure Mobile PAYments and Services on Chip”, IST, 2002 – 2004 , whose object is to develop a new generation of user-friendly and personalised information services for citizens as well as students, businessmen and bank customers accessible anywhere and anytime with any technology, realising a mobile and trusted secure access to information services (www.smpaysoc.org); • M-ToGuide – “Mobile tourism guide“, IST, 2002 – 2003, whose object is to implement a multidisciplinary location based tourist service, which provides profiled and filtered contents from multiple content Providers, providing the end-user with a PDA equipped with a GPS receiver and a GPRS radio system. • BEACON – “Brazilian-European Consortium for DTT Services", an IST-FP6 specific targeted research project on Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT; • T-SENIORITY – “Expanding the benefits of Information Society to Older People through digital TV channels”, an ICT PSP project aiming to significantly improve quality of life and ensure efficient health and social care for the ageing population by specifying and demonstrating innovative ICT enabled products and services. Since 2003, the Department of Information Engineering has been involved in the design and development of Service infrastructure on Digital Television platform. We have been working on iTV application design and implementation, to provide interactive services in different service scenarios (learning, e-health, T-government, tourism, etc.). Research activities on Digital Television have been performed as partner of two Competence Centres on Digital Terrestrial Television: • DTTlab, founded by Tuscany Region, aiming to develop T-Government services • Competence Centre MPS, founded by Monte dei Paschi di Siena, aiming to validate the iTV framework on banking context (T-comemrce, T-banking, Interactive Advertisement) UNISI has been involved in several Regional, national and European projects related to Interactive Television, with a particular attention on e-inclusion and e-health topics, involving ambient intelligence and sensor networks. Some significant results achieved on Digital TV are coming from UNISI attendance to the following projects: • SORRISO – Regional project aiming to promote integration of Digital terrestrial television framework with Ambient intelligence paradigm in a e-health service scenario. • DTToscana – National project whose objects are to design and implement citizen services on Digital terrestrial television framework.
