Day 2: Wednesday, 26 November 14.00–15.30 - OLDES.eu - An affordable/personal health care system for ageing ICT2008 in Lyon
Submitted by consen on Wed, 2008-11-12 15:25.An affordable and personalised health care system for an independent ageing
There is a social and market demand for the new, ICT based responses to care and health service provision to improve chronic disease management at home and prolong the possibility of autonomous, safe and socially fulfilling life. Many current ICT e-health applications focus on the provision of individual clinical services. There is a need for improvement of horizontal applications and for the coordination of services from different agencies and disciplines into tailored and customised packages of provision spanning both health and social care. The proposed session will exchange best practice and propose new solutions for the coordinated of the delivery and governance of complex ehealth services. It will explore the architectural and technological issues of these applications and infrastructures and investigate viable business models for innovative and low cost health services’ provision. A comparative approach with the enterprise interoperability world will be considered.Web site: http://www.oldes.eu

Deadline FP7 eHealth - 3.2. QUALITY, EFFICIENCY AND SOLIDARITY OF HEALTHCARE SYSTEMS INCLUDING TRANSITIONAL HEALTH SYSTEMS
Submitted by consen on Wed, 2008-10-15 14:18.The objective is to provide, in the light of new knowledge, scientifically validated tools to
allow countries to learn from the experience of other health systems and their
sustainability, taking into account the importance of national contexts and population
characteristics (ageing, mobility, migration, education, socioeconomic status and the

Citizen Services for Borderless Healthcare in the European Union: eHealth Conference - 9Sep08 in Kiel, Germany

eHealth at the "eHealth Conference 2008":
"Citizen Services for Borderless Healthcare in the European Union:
Current Situation - Vision – Solutions"
9th September 2008, 9:00 – 12:00 h
Travelling abroad for pleasure, education, or work has become a natural part of life for many European citizens. Products and services can be bought in another Member State when the need arises, but obtaining healthcare outside their residence country is still problematic for most European citizens. The workshop focuses on concrete steps towards improving pan-European healthcare provision and on policy needs to accelerate European integration also in this field so close to the daily needs of many European citizens. It is organised by the TEN4Health project which is funded by the European Commission. The TEN4Health project contributes towards improved healthcare provision for mobile European Union citizens. Initiated by leading public health insurance providers, the TEN4Health service package assures access of citizens to healthcare in participating Member States’ hospitals, based on a secure web service and its integration into developing European eHealth infrastructure networks. The workshop is addressed to all interested in realising an integrated European health services market, in sharing visions, experience and opportunities for cooperation.

AAL Policy Workshop in Brussels on 25-26 September 2008
Submitted by consen on Wed, 2008-08-27 17:05.AAL Policy Workshop in Brussels on 25-26 September 2008
The Joint AAL Association / AALIANCE Workshop on Ambient Assisted Living Policy in
Europe (co-organised with the European Commission) will be held in
Brussels on 25-26 September 2008.
The goal of this workshop is to create a comprehensive vision of the R&D and policy needs for ambient assisted living technologies and to suggest strategies that may serve as a roadmap for industry, service providers, academia and policy makers. An intensive exchange of ideas
shall support the building of a AAL community that may gather as project consortia in the future.
The workshop will consist of keynote speeches and four consecutive round table discussions, each opened by dedicated impulse speakers:
- Older people at home
- Aging in Society
- Aging at Work
- AAL Community building
Experts are asked to prepare short statements on different aspects of ambient assisted living technology trends in the different user domains, social-institutional aspects and R&D support and AAL community building.
In order to ensure a high intensity of discussion, participation in this workshop will be limited to a total of about 80 persons.
Interested experts are asked to apply for participation (including a description of their proposed contribution) on the AALIANCE website.
Experts will be carefully selected based on the relevance of their announced contribution to the discussion on the workshop topic and taking into account the importance of their attendance for the workshop goal.
